A-level Biology Unit 5 synoptic essay.

I have to write a 25 mark essay on:
'The role of ATP in living organisms'

Is all I can think of is active transport, photosynthesis and respiration, not really sure on how to expand on these further. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Respiration:
Glycolysis - activation of glucose by phosphorylation with ATP

Photosynthesis:
Calvin Cycle
-Glycerate 3-phosphate turned into a triose-phosphate by ATP
-Triose Phosphate turned into ribulose bisphosphate by ATP

Active Transport:
-Go back to AS biology and use the example of sodium-potassium pump, with ATP phosporylating a carrier protein, changing its 3D structure and allowing molecules to travel against their concentration gradients.


Muscle Contraction & Transmission Across Synapse are 2 other examples of where ATP is used within the organism that you can find in the textbook!
