Hi, where are the lectures held for English and how spacious are the lecture rooms and are the buildings ugly? It's just that the website is misleading and says the lectures are held in the Trent Building.

Thanks

They will be held in different buildings around campus although some may take place in Trent. It will depend on the availability of rooms and which building they are in in terms of spacious lecture rooms, sometimes you will have plenty of space and be in a lecture theatre that can take up to 500 people sometimes you will be in much smaller ones. It depends which module you are taking, how many people are taking in and the availability of rooms.

Same sort of goes for the ugliness of buildings, it depends. There's lots of different buildings on campus: some are modern, some old, some kinda ugly and some pretty. There's no one type.

Just to add to EMassey's excellent info, for first year you definitely won't have any lectures in Trent; there simply aren't any rooms big enough for 300 students. You'll probably have most of them in Law and Social Sciences and 'science city', which have plenty spacious rooms. I wouldn't say they're ugly, but at the end of the day it's not like you can see them from inside a lecture theatre

You may have seminars in Trent, but again they could be anywhere on campus. However, you'll have Academic Community sessions in your personal tutor's office in Trent, and Drama workshops in the Performing Arts Studio there, which is a nice space (and right next to the nicest cafe on campus!). Second and third year you may have some lectures in Trent, as I have, but it depends on timetabling. There's a free hopper bus to get you from one side of the campus to the other a bit quicker, though!
