Mechanics M1 Edexcel?

Hi everyone,

I am revising M1 and came across a question in statics where the forces are in equilibrium and I have to find the magnitude of a missing force and its angle with the horizontal. I got two simultaneous equations but don't know how I should solve them; I've seen some examples where the identity sinx/cosx=tanx is used but does M1 assume C2 knowledge? Is there a specific way you should approach this sort of question?

Thank youuu!

Hi,

Yup either use the equation sinx/cosx = tanx

some examples require you to add the two equations together since they are both = 0

Keep practising they will get easier.
