education and sociology

can anyone help me out with the sociological theories of education?

so far ive got the usual marxist and functionalist ideas (role allocation, correspondance theory)

and got interactonism in terms of (labelling theory, self fulfilling theory)

can anyone thinkof anything a bit more complex, especially stuff from the new right, post modernisim, black feminists etc

sorry about slow reply, look up Max Weber
Social Action Theory looks at the effect that society has on the individual rather than vise versa.

I'm also pretty stuck on education and my exams tomorow :/ so if anyone feels like helping it would be greatly appreciated
