Are the rooms significantly smaller in the quads compared to the golden court rooms or not?

I'm not 100% sure tbh. I don't think so.

Hey
I read a while back that a guy applied late for accommodation and ended up off campus, but since he'd firmed bath, he was offered on campus accommodation on results day as others who had been allocated rooms on campus failed to meet their offer. There's probably no guarantee that this will happen and i would guess it's on a first come first serve basis but there's still a chance you could get where you want
aw brilliant! Fingers crossed then thank you
Yeah I've had to apply to John Wood Court. I'm so annoyed as I was hoping that I would be on campus, but I'm hoping for a miracle, that somehow I'll be offered somewhere on campus. If not, the centre of Bath is a pretty nice place to live for a year, so will have to make the most of it I guess. Has anyone got anything to say about John Wood Court???
Found this on the studential website

"John Wood Court or "the wood" as it's know to its inhabitants is pretty much the perfect student halls.
Imagine a block of flats (well 6 blocks of flats) enclosed in a private courtyard around a central grassy bit, good for footie and the like, 300 odd students, reasonable resident tutors (the guys/gals that supervise you are PhD lads so they are a good laugh and fairly leinient in people bending rules) in THE CENTRE OF BLOODY TOWN!!! It is legendary, no hassle of having to get a bus/taxi back to campus after a night out, you can find a decent pub/bar and be there weeks before the campus residents have a chance to stake a claim on it... dont go thinking its gonna cost six arms and three legs either, my place there was £56/person a week, with four sharing and very nice it was too, thats damn good price for a centre of town lad-pad. it does have one or two little problems (but then it wouldnt be fit for students if it didnt) you have to get the bus to campus every day... yes, even if you have an 8:15 lecture... THAT MEANS WAKING UP AT 6am... but if your lucky enough not to get many of them or you dont make a habit of going to them them all is good. also (not actually a problem) "the wood" generally has a fair sized foreign student population, of all sorts, french/spanish/italian/german/swedish/chinese/arabian/pretty much anything and they (naturally) tend to socialise with thier own kin, so if you end up in a flat with three chinese, dont expect conversation to flow freely. that is of course a sweeping generalisation and the vast majority of them really do try and mingle in. Its genuinely eye opening to be around such a diverse mix of people (all 18-20 ish) and go out on the piss with people who end up ratted and speaking incoherent russian to you because they have gone beyond the point of being able to speak english anymore! its great, i loved it and all the brits/europeans/asians i knew there loved it too. if its your first year in bath coming up. Go. Now."

10-15 minutes by bus.
I did my accommodation application as soon as it opened. I included the fact that I'm allergic to nuts on the application, and recently received an email saying I can apply to a studio room in Westwood because of my medical condition. However my allergy isn't that bad, I've managed it for 18 years - it just requires me to be a bit more cautious than others.

I don't really want to apply for a studio room in Westwood as Westwood wasn't one of my preferences at the start. However the idea of a Kitchenette is actually appealing to me a bit now. I'd also like an Ensuite.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information about studio rooms in Westwood? Is it sociable? How flexible is the uni with accommodation? Would it be possible for me to have my original choices (ie Marlborough and Solsbury)?
Hi, did you have to contact the uni first to see if they had anything else or do they just email that to everyone?

Hey I'm not too sure sorry, I just included the fact that I'm allergic and a vegetarian on the application form under notes or something, and got an email from a lady at the uni last week. I didn't call or email the uni directly - I just assumed I apply the way everyone does - didn't realise my allergy counts as a 'medical requirement' coz its just part of my life lol

High Five! I was late for accommodation application too haha.. John Wood Court is the only option for me.
Do you guys ever think of renting a room near university of Bath out there on your own since John Wood Court is also off campus?
I just did my accomodation thingys just now and whats left is John Wood Court. My fault for doing this thing late. huhu. Oh wells! Anyone who is currently staying or who have stayed there before can share their thoughts about it? :> hahaha. Maybe infos like comparing with the on campus accomodation? or how far is it from the bus/train station? or is it still as convenient as living on campus eventhough you live away from Bath University?
Recently switched around my firm and insurance choices so Bath becomes my firm. Hence I've only just been able to apply for accommodation, I knew it would only be John Wood left but I applied anyway. I'm really hoping there will be rooms available on campus come results day. However I'm curious on how these rooms will be allocated if they do become available, like do they notify everyone that there are rooms available by email and then allocate through first come first serve? I'll probably call up sometime to find out.

I'm afraid there won't be campus accommodation, I am in a similar situation and I spoke to someone in charge of accommodation who said that they over allocate rooms anyway based on people not making the grades etc.

Not exactly true according to this person who posted on page 2 of this thread
"Hi there,

I originally applied for accommodation *really late* where there was only John Wood, the city accommodation, on June the 24th.

I then got an email on the second of September saying that due to people not meeting their offers rooms were available in Brendon Court, Westwood and Eastwood, and I accepted that."

So it's still possible even though they over allocate you can never estimate accurately how many people fail to meet their offers.

A lot smaller. Polden has the biggest rooms. and Quads are tiny, you can hardly fit 4 people in standing.

Hi there,
Super random specific question but...
Can anyone at bath let me know what the inside of the wardrobes look like? In all the pictures, everyone has the big wooden ones but there is no way of know if it is only hanging space inside or if there are drawers. I'm just asking because I prefer putting most of my stuff in drawers/shelves so I was wondering if I should bring along some of those portable plastic ones to put inside the wardrobe.
Thanks!

Depends on room. Mine in Westwood had hanging space one one half and 4/5 shelves on the other. I also had a chest of drawers. Hope that helps.
