Edexcel FP1 - May 14th, 2015 [Exam discussion thread]

A thread for the FP1 exam this year.

I think we've established some answers:

1) z=-2/3 +/- i/3
2) [13.25,13.5], 13.455
3) a=7, b=20
4) z2=3/2-(3root3/2)i, |z2|=3, argz2=-pi/3
5) Proofs
6) (-3/8,-24)
7) k=1/5 or -3, T (0,0) (-2,0) (0,2c), c=3/2
8) R(3pq, 3(p+q))

This could be helpful,our class has 4 lessons before the exam to revise and do all of the proof by induction chapter so i reckon it probably won't go to well

Prove that n³ + 5n is divisible by 6. There will be a stage at which you may get very stuck, there's a small trick which you may find useful.

I've got to f(k+1) - f(k) = 3k(k+1) + 6.

K(k+1) is even
3k(k+1) is a multiple of 6
Therefore f(k+1) = 3k(k+1) + 6 + f(k)
Therefore f(k+1) is divisible by 6

How close am I?

I've only ever done 2 past papers, so not too excited, especially since it's on the same day as physics unit 6. Hopefully it won't be too bad seeing as it's an AS module :smile:

Have you done the Jan 2015 paper that was a monster one lel, so many different questions.

The exam is to early this year compared to previous years. I'm in yr13 but picked up AS fmaths, doing 2 modules last year and just fp1 this year.

Is everyone feeling prepared for the exam?
