Offer change

This kind of an odd one, I was wondering if is possible to ask a Uni to change an offer? I have received two offers from my first choice and I feel I don't really want to go anywhere else. I was planning on asking if it would be possible to have one of the offers lowered/changed slightly so I could take both offers as my Firm and Insurance.

Anyone thing it's worth trying/have any suggestions?

Presumably you have applied for two slightly different courses at your preferred uni. You can still make them your firm and insurance even if the requirements are the same level.

As for asking the uni to lower one of your offers, essentially that's a no. Why should they?

I know I could still make them my Firm and Insurance, I just don't see much point if the grades are identical. There's no reason that they should, my only reason for asking is pretty much that I don't want to go anywhere else. I figured since they can't rescind my offer for asking that it could be worth a shot.

How different are the courses? One might be full after results day and the other might have spaces.

The courses are quite similar, mechanical engineering and general engineering which is an unspecialised 1st year before choosing. Will it matter if they are classed as full though if I accept the offers to confirm places?

If you achieve your firm offer, then you are in. I was considering what might happen if you slip a grade. One scenario could be that they are totally full for mechanical engineering and reject you. However, the general engineering course might still have a couple of places and accept you despite you being a grade down.

Whether that is a realistic scenario given the similiarities in the courses, I'm afraid I don't know.
