Black girls & TSR.

Here's me addressing the black girls situation on here.

I'm going to delete the TSR app because I never wanna come back to this community. I've always and will always believe that black girls are extremely attractive. TSR brings down our kind all the time, and although I know the above statement about black girls being gorgeous is true, it's started to mess with my self esteem more than I'd care to admit. I'm forced to ask, is this what people really think about us? Why do they try to use every opportunity to bring us down?
I've read things here like "black girls are fake "i.e weaves and "some have African features". Erm, excuse me but why are people so threatened by black girls with weaves?! Are women not allowed to do whatever they'd like with their hair? Do other races not wear extensions too? I read on here that black women don't love themselves because it's a different texture of weaves compared to their hair, what nonsense? Some black girls get afro kinky/mongolian weaves, it's not just the straight texture. It's all textures including our own. I wear weaves, braids and my natural hair. Weaves are not too bad to manage, they can be switched up (dyed etc) without damaging the natural hair, and one can get them in different lengths, so it's fun to change up your look that way. It's also a protective hairstyle that shields your hair while it grows. Going off the same ridiculous logic, are you trying to tell me girls who wear fake tans hate themselves? Aren't they making themselves darker chemically? Or Asian/African girls who bleach their skin to look paler? Hey, how about girls who wear makeup? Or girls of other races who line their lips/get Botox to make them look fuller?(the same disgusting African features everyone despises) Oh what about girls who were born brunette but bleach their hair blonde? Or lol, how about curly haired girls who straighten their hair? Do they not love themselves or how they were born? Or wait, the white/Latina/Asian girls who wear Afro wigs or braids? Isn't that a problem too? Here's what it is : Girls of all races can do whatever the **** they want to their appearance and no one has a say in whatsoever. Let people do what they want, and stop wiggling judgy hypocritical fingers at everything, esp in the case of black girls.
African features aren't attractive, yep. POC born with large noses and large lips and nappy hair, deserve no love, isn't that what we're saying TSR? What a ****ed up place this is. Personally I wear weaves and **** for reasons above, but I do believe the media has made black women want to change themselves because of what is deemed beautiful. African features don't match y'all's 'preferences', so I can understand when these girls think they have to change somehow to fit.
Anyway, this last paragraph is unimportant and not what I'm trying to address here, the former ones are.
I would like to hear black people's opinion on this (because they're the ones who would've experienced it as well) but despite what everyone says - and please correct me if I'm wrong -many people in the UK are still closet racist in the way that some believe subconsciously that black people are the inferior race. They think white girls are more attractive than black girls, going off on nothing apart from colour. Some black boys are starting to believe it as well and that's heartbreaking to say the least. Using 'preference' to sugar coat racism. I know preference is fine, but a lot of you on here have written off the entire race and that's not preference, it's racism. I've seen at least 6 well educated, gorgeous black women here in England (1's a doctor, 3 are engineers, 1's a natural scientist, and the other's an author) who are all very sweet in nature but have a massive problem with getting guys. Now I'm not saying me or my friends have that problem, but I know quite a few more women who do. After uni I'm packing my **** and leaving, I can't stay in a place where people might think my children are inferior based on their skin colour.

Is this because of Groots thread? The one that asked people rank attractiveness based on race? Because that trash is gone. Also, if I remember correctly, there were a LOT of people that were offended by it.

You really shouldn't worry about what people on tsr think. Besides, who's checking for anyone on here lol? Just focus on your relationships in real life and don't let it get to you.

No, not really  There's a ton of threads like this on TSR and my anger's slowly been building up but groots thread was the last straw.

TSR bigotry and general nastiness can be overwhelming at times. I totally understand going off it. This afternoon is the first time I've been back here in months, and I think I'll only come back on Sundays from now on. Taking a break is nice and relaxing.
I know how you feel, so you're not alone. But don't let it get to you. Trust me, the cowards who spew this crap online would never say it to your face because they know it's just not true. There is nothing wrong with being black and female. I guess I just have a thick skin but I don't let it bother me because I know I'm fabulous  Don't need anybody to tell me I'm not  And I'm sure you are too.
lol they're just trolls. No one actually thinks that. A lot of the fittest girls are black. They always have the hottest bodies lmao.

Also tldr. I only read the title and first couple of sentences. scrolled down, saw that block of text and thought, nope.
Ya, seriously, don't let that stuff get to you. I'm a black woman, and I think I'm damn pretty. Sure, some days I'm only cute, but that's not very often. People will say stupid things, and think they are damn clever saying them, from behind their computer screens. (I do it all the time!) Judge not according to the things said on The Student Room, judge according to what happens in real life.

Someone got self hate and confidence issue it seems. Those derogatory threads on black women and the replies don't represent the majority view of the TSR community.
I understand where you're coming from, but don't let the view of a small handful of TSRians get you down. After all, people say things on the internet that they know they'd get a shouting at if they said it in real.
The moment you mentioned "people say black girls aren't beautiful" I stopped reading.

I'm sorry but I've thought of many black girls as being incredibly attractive, ignore the fools that favour only that which seems normal for them to appreciate - they don't know real beauty .. Which is of course subjective however for the type of people who rule out entire races/ethnicities (those you've referred to on here) they just can't think for themselves, they're closed minded and ignorant. Fools.

I don't know what you look like but just a minute ago there was a black woman sitting infront of me on the train, and guess what? She was attractive. Very Attractive.

Hey don't listen to them. Some of the most successful and beautiful women in the media industry are black. All different skin textures from light to dark. Rihanna, Tyra Banks, Kelly Washington, Lupita Nyong'o etc. We are one of the races with a huge diversity of skin colour. I think that each black persons skin tone is never the exact same to another.
Knowing that someone feels the way the thread starter does makes me feel really sympathetic toward her and everyone else like her who has felt this way. Myself included.

However, besides educating people not much else can be done to change their opinions.

The best thing to do is to try to pull yourself out of the negativity and surround yourself with people who can love and appreciate you - every beautiful black inch of you.

Most people don't think like a few very vocal trolls on here. I don't see weaves as a sign that black girls are self loathing because it's not the same texture as their real hair. I see it the same way as when I dye my hair an "unnatural" colour or unnaturally straighten it. It's just about what you as an individual like and nothing more. Don't let the haters get to you:smile:
I didn't read this. Only the first sentence. But most black girls don't care what random guys have to say on TSR.

You shouldn't take things a small group of individual say too seriously :2euk48l:

I know exactly what you mean. I took a long 1 year break from TSR because it can get to you sometimes. Well, I didn't quit because of the 'black girl' stuff but it used to get to me a little bit.

You have to remember that this is just a forum. It's not a representation of what every guy in this country feels. I have been approached by all races in real life. This is a different kind of world.

Don't get disheartened! Most guys on here don't prefer black girls but it doesn't mean guys out there don't. In fact, most guys out there don't think about race that much. It's so hard to find someone that you get chemistry with and when you do, you follow it. Regardless of race.

And it also has to do with how black girls are with certain races of guys but I'm not going to talk about that lol
Whoa. Good to know not many people think that way, but there's absolutely loads of threads/people who've mirrored this view, esp the weave part. I'll rep everyone
I haven't seen any of these threads you mention wat
