Finance OR Accountancy?

So basically I have a degree in Accounting and Finance but I need to pick between Accounting & Finance and Finance for postgraduate study.

What I really want to know is, which is more useful in the real world?
As the ACCA qualification turns you into a Chartered Accountant, is there any point at all to study Accounting in postgraduate study?

Having taken a tiny look at Finance it seems a lot more useful and prestigious. For example it is a good choice if you want to be a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst institute.

Having said this, if I worked and tried to get a role in accounting would companies question my postgraduate choice of Finance? Would they, as companies love to, judge me based on this thinking I'm gonna jump off to other roles ASAP after hiring me?

Lastly, what career paths are there for accounting? I assume that roles that lead to Director of Finance, involve academia in Finance, mainly, but what about Accounting? Is there any similar path or are accountants always just going to work on accounts for higher management, who are part of the Finance department?
I'm doin a masters in accounting and finance and only 3 of my 8 modules are in accounting. The other 5 are in finance in modules such as Business finance, asset management and financial derivatives.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand that there are Finance related modules but in the real world people don't really care what you learned at university, it's all about prestige and how it looks. Saying to someone "I have a passion for Finance and went for a Masters degree sounds better than "I just went with the Accounting & Finance one because I was not sure".

I noticed that Finance masters are also more expensive. What I really just wonder is, career wise, Finance goes a longer way, doesn't it?

I think as you have a undergraduate in accounting and finance already then finance is the way forward, as it allows you to specialise in one area. With me only half my degree was in accounting, and the course includes parts of Accounting I liked with alot of new fiance modules

I've always thought that accounting masters were completely superfluous. You have to do the professional qualifications anyway, so why waste more time and money? You might as well self study a professional qualification after taking the exemptions from your degree.

If accounting definitely isn't what you want to do, or you want to keep your options open then yes the finance masters would be much better use of money.
