Probably something to do with wearing veils in public, I'd guess.

I was actually thinking about this myself. Maybe you should also think about making smoking illegal indoors.
I was hoping to hear of some kind of constitutional law debate

Extending the time terror suspects can be detained without charge from 28 days to 90 days.
I cant remember his name but the 'potential' terrorist who got charged for 40 years for conspiracy to murder.
I would say:

Veils; Smoking in public; terror suspects. Maybe something to do with Double Jeopardy (not that recent, but it may be something they will mention). Past that I don't know. Just keep your eyes on the news, read papers (maybe the Economist or similar publication as well) and I'm sure you will be fine!
reform of homicide laws?

Just read the Times Law Supplement, The Times itself, The Guardian and if you really are motivated The Economist, BBC website and of course watch CNN
There's always loads going on, every day there's probably someting in the top papers which you could discuss.
For a current topical constitutional debate the question of whether we need a modern British Bill of Rights is pretty key.
