Anyone out there who never drinks? Do you know anyone who doesn't?

I mean never drinks. If you don't, do your friends? Why don't you drink and what do you tell people when they ask you?

I never ever drink. Never have, never will. It just isn't my thing (plus some family reasons i'd rather not go in to). If anyone asks I say...I don't drink. Anyone who thinks i'm boring or wont be my friend purely because I don't drink isn't worth befriending in the first place. I know lots of people who don't drink. Most of my friends at university don't drink (though I am friends with people who do drink and they couldn't care in the least that I don't drink) and my girlfriend doesn't drink so it has never caused a problem.
I never drink, I don't like the idea of being drunk, out of control of my own actions, and vulnerable to others. I can have just as much fun sober as posed, and I can keep an eye on the others on a night out if I am sober sister! If people try to mock me for not drinking, or ask me why I don't, I just explain what I have just said here

The taste of alcohol is too strong for me; it's a bit like Listerine.

My girlfriend and some of my friends for religious reasons. Other friends just because they don't want to and don't see the point.

Used to drink, don't anymore

Mainly because I don't live that lifestyle as much anymore since I left Uni, so I thought, why not just give up all together.

Never enjoyed really enjoyed the taste, just did it as a social thing.

Having said that, some of the best nights out I've ever had, I was sober
It's simply against my religion...
I don't drink and I never will. I don't like the idea of not being able to control myself properly.
I don't want to say or do unwanted things:redface:

I don't drink...don't like the taste plus the idea of being drunk is very unappealing, especially since I've seen a lot of my friends go wonky :3
I never ever drink and never would (religious reasons)
I do drink, but it's becoming more and more common for people I know not to. I'm not sure what's causing these changes though. Obviously some people don't drink because of religious reasons but most of my friends who don't drink aren't at all religious.
I never drink... Because When I tried drinking I didn't like it.

I was 15 and at that age it was actually a lot easier to get hold of "other stuff" than alcohol which was less expensive and a lot more fun. as a consequence I never got into drinking. Now that I'm older and I don't want to get into trouble and do want to be more in control of myself and my life, I don't do that other stuff anymore, and haven't for years. But that didn't make me want to drink anymore than I did before as it's just not enjoyable for me.

Most of my friends drink and I don't judge them for it. When I meet new people I don't tell them the reason I don't drink and I do wonder what they must think.

I have two friends that don't drink. One is rather young (19) and I don't think she's really tried it much so not had much chance to form an opinion but maybe is one of those people that others would consider to not drink as they are "boring", but really she has other interests and is very in control of her life and focused on her goals. The other is my age (24) and used to have a drinking problem so she stopped. she's nearly gone a year without drinking and is now much better company to all (even other drinkers). She still socialises with friends who drink but avoids situations where the focus is drinking, e.g. would rather go to someone's house than the pub.

Before I met the 19 year old and the 24 year old stopped drinking, I was the only person I know not to drink. I was considered weird for not drinking by many.... Probably still am!! My long term boyfriend drinks and get drunk as do other close friends/ family. this isn't a problem for me.
My parents brought me up in a way that avoided all harmful things. I assume most people are brought up with the notion that you make mistakes then you learn from them, my parents just told me not to do those things. Never smoked, drank, done any type of drugs etc, and don't regret it. Don't like how substances change you as a person, make you wild or anxious or something else that's fabricated. People have fulfilling social lives without alcohol, partying etc, so why take the risks involved?

You're never 'not in control' of your actions. It's just a made up excuse people use for cheating etc.

Unless you go black out drunk and pass out. Thats only after copious amounts of alcohol though.
I don't get drunk, but I will have one or two drinks, purely because I like the taste.
