Hi, I'm study English, RE, History and Sociology for As level, and am considering doing a law degree. If any law students could say if these are good subjects for the degree, and if I was to drop one for A2, which one, it would really help

I would consider dropping RE or Sociology, definitely keep History, which English is it?

English literature. I find history is my heaviest subject, so if I was keeping it on to A2, I would definitely need to drop sociology! I think I can get a good grade in RE, but I think it would be more useful if I could do the ethics module. What uni are you at?
If your doing English Literature then drop Sociology. If your doing English Language then you might as well drop that or drop Sociology. RE and History are good subjects so keep those.

I'm not even a law student yet! Probably off to Birmingham next year, not sure yet - I regret not applying to some higher ranked universities. Even though I'm not a law student, I did a lot of research about A level subjects for a Law degree and I would definitely say History and English are your two most important subjects, after that the other two are pretty much on par.
What grades are you hoping to get and which universities are you looking at?

I'm hoping to get 4 As at As and maybe 2 A* and an A at A2 but I haven't started revising yet so that is probably not happening!! I was looking at Durham, but its so competitive to get in! I thought about Trinity Dublin, but you need to do four A2s to get the points I'll have to look at Birmingham too now!

If you really do think you'll get those grades you should probably also look at places like Bristol, Nottingham, UCL and Kings.
Drop the one that you know you won't so as well at because universities don't really care about the subjects, they just look at the grades! So if you know you're going to get like I don't know an A in english over RE then drop RE 😊

That makes sense I guess SO should I drop the subject I do worst in at As?

I say yes, but if you feel like you could definitely improve or you are extremely interested in one subject then choose it. Honestly the more interested you are in a subject then more likely you are to be motivated to study it.
And I want to do law too!! What uni have you applied too??
Everyone keeps saying that so I know it's true!! :/ I really love English, and law generally interests me, but I don't know what other degree I would do. If I do Law, I mightn't be a barrister or a solicitor, but use the degree as a foundation for something else?

After your As results you should drop the subject you have the worst grade in.
I am so scared now!! Did you just take the LNAT? What do you need to be good at to pass it??
I did it a few months ago, I scored 26 which is a fairly respectable score although nothing amazing. The average this year was 22, so that's something I guess. You need to be reasonably skilled at verbal reasoning and analysing text, as well as a good ability to comprehend text.
You'll need to do the LNAT if you're considering, Birmingham, Bristol, Durham, Oxford, Glasgow, Durham, Kings, Nottingham, and UCL.
