It may do if it's directly related to your Masters subject. You need two good academic references as part of your application. If your referees think that you're weak in the subject you're applying for, they will say so.

If you end up with a good final result and the module you're resitting is nothing to do with the Masters, then you should be fine.

I failed a module on my undergraduate but still ended up with a good first overall. I was offered 2 funded PhDs. As long as the rest of your transcript is strong and the module isn't a core subject all is certainly not lost! You can explain it as a learning opportunity.
