For the inverse you want to make x the subject of the formula in terms of y. I would suggest taking logs of both sides and see where that gets you.

The question is asking you which value of x produces the value 1 when input into f(x). Can you see which value of x satisfies f(x) = 1?

do as SeanFM suggests - first re-write the equation as:

x=10yx=10^{y} then take logs to base 10 of both sides...

(as for an inverse equation, the quickest way to find it is switch around x and y in the original equation, then solve for y)
