Hey everyone,

Its that time of the year when Pharmalife is open for registration!

Who is thinking to apply for Hospital pre reg.

I myself want to apply but a bit unsure about the locations!

how do yeh figure out which hopsitals are the best?

Hello! Have you applied to summer placements? That's the best thing to do, to give you an insight into hospital pharmacy. Also have you got a huge amount of experience?

Depends on your location choices and how much competition is there for it.

Also some are specialist, like Mental health or eye hospitals. So really its what interests you

I did for a couple of hospitals but got rejected. And apart from a few days as part of our uni timetable I havent got any hospital experience!

Well as I said it depends on where you want to live and if that particular hospital is very competitive or not.

And also if your'e flexible to move anywhere then u can try for unpopular places where no one likes to go, better chance of getting a place there

I have secured one mental health placement, and also have an interview at another hospital. I personally feel that an industry/hospital placement is an ideal placement, although very competitive.
Where are you thinking of applying? I think hospitals down south i.e.kent, essex etc may increase your chances.

on the coast areas there is a shortage. Not bigger cities, that is where it is competitive

thanks anyway
Anyone know where the less competitive areas are? At the moment I'm thinking of applying to three around Newcastle and Sunderland and then one of the big ones in London. Any of those areas less competitive? I'm guessing London will be competitive?? But some of them have way more places per hospital.

Big cities or any hospital in the vicinity will be very competitive. Rural area hospitals or small coastal towns where not many peeps want to go, there might be a chance there
Anyone booked any open days yet?!
no one here?

I am worried I'm not going to get a hospital pre reg place as I haven't got any work experience :/
I've tried applying for many summer hospital placements but I never heard back from any of them :frown:

Dw i havent got any work experience either. But u dont absolutely need some to get a pre reg place.

Go to open days and talk to tutors, thats a good way to show them you're committed to their hospitals
