Transferring to SOAS for second year entry into economics

Well ill just get straight into it. I am currently studying at University of Hull doing Economics. However, I want to transfer into SOAS for second year entry into the course. Now, I have emailed the department and I was told that if I was able to secure a 2:1 I should be able to transfer into second year, if of course the modules are similar also, which they are. My issue is that I did pretty well in my first semester, apart from one modules which needs re-sitting. As a result of this I don't think I will get my academic tutor to predict me a 2:1, nor is he and I on the best terms( long story) none the less, as a result I think that perhaps the best way to go about it would be to just applying via clearing instead of UCAS? My question is whether or not you guys think this is likely to be successful, taking into consideration that my due to my retake which will be in august will delay the publication of my total first year result which I'll of course need when going through clearing.

Any reply would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance
