Don't you mean the mujhadeen? They were very different from the taliban.

They are two very, very different groups. So no not one word, more completely misinterpretating a very complex conflict. The mujhadeen and taliban actuslly fought each other in the Afghan civil war.

It's a war guys, a proper war, savagery like this always happens in an all out war usually from both sides, the only difference really is the extent of the brutality. To compare the rebels to Assad is silly, the rebels act mainly out of utter desperation to despose a dictator who has shown very little respect for the civil rights of his people. People resort to the most savage acts when they have no food or way of gratifying their basic desires, we should be attacking the lack of an organised force to handle this.

The mujihadeen definately did not evolve into the Taliban! The fought the muhijhadeen for control of afghan so to impose their extremist views.

To make this point clear, because everyone seems to get this wrong....

The U.S. did NOT fund the Taliban.

They funded the mujihadeen. When the Russians left, a breakaway sect called the Taliban started a civil war.

To this day, you get ex mujihadeen who join the afghan army and police specifically so they can kill Taliban.

Please, can people get this in their heads, it's a real annoyance of mine that people always get this wrong

My understanding was bin laden turned his back against U.S. to lead Taliban

ISIS = Made in America let's get it straight guys. These terrorists are the foot soldiers of US-NATO and allies designed to destabilise sovereign countries and turn them into territories.

Tin foil hat alert.

ISIS is certainly a by product of the foreign policy of western countries including the USA. But your comment is just a stupid conspiracy theory. ISIS is certainly not "made in America" and they are not "foot soldiers of US-NATO".

They are, actually.

In 2011, NATO started a recruitment process for Mujahideen together with the Turkish high command. This is confirmed by Israeli press reports.

ISIS is not a manifestation of the failures of US policy. It's a manifestation of US foreign policy.

Really? Amazing then that the origins of ISIS go back to 2003 and that they fought the Americans throughout the Iraqi occupation.

Except the Taliban are religious extremists. The Kurbs aren't. They may be rebel fighters, but they won in Kobane and are invaluable for the West.
Lol. Just like how the "mujihadeen" were "invaluable" to the west right ? You do know the PPK is a socialist and nationalist dedicated terrorist group who were not too long ago involved in terrorist attacks in Turkey ? Turkey has just about suppressed them in Turkey, now the world wants Turkey to help fund them again to fight against IS. What could possibly go wrong ? One bunch of criminals are no better then another bunch.

-EDIT-

Wow never knew that about the Taliban. I always wondered why most of the world never recognised them pre 9/11 (apart from Pakistan and Saudi .)

France intervened in Mali against Al Qaeda while supporting Al Qaeda in Syria.

i don't see your point.

America should apologise for the Iraq war and then completely withdraw themselves and their western allies from any involvement in this conflict.

You claimed the us created and trained ISIS. How could they have done thst when ISIS existed long before the current conflict? Also I'd like a source showing france was supporting Al qaeda. Not a fore runner group or one that eventually joined ISIS but al qaeda itself.
