If I fail school...

Hey all,

As a girl I am unsure as to what apprenticeships I could get as this would be a last resort if I do bad at AS levels. Any useful website would be great thanks

Well to start with your options are the same as anyone of any gender. There's a government website for apprenticeships that you can look at.

Hi Tay22

ArmyJobs here, are you still feeling a bit unsure of what you would like to do for a career? We have all be there, so don't worry to much! Have you got any hobbies or interests that you like doing outside of school? Have you ever considered a career with the British Army?

Not academic in my youth, I did averagely at GCSE's and failed A levels. Education system didn't really work for me, as many others.
As I like learning about the intricacies of how humans work, I decided to do Sports Science. Was a really great course.

BTEC's allow you to go to uni afterwards if you wish to, or go straight into a related job.

In my opinion though apprenticeships work very well if you know what you truly want to do, at such a young age, but then you're often stuck in that area. They do admittedly work out very well for some - as from there you can develop your skills, and eventually form your own business.

Hi Tay22,

Thats Awesome, You can take part in both of the those sports within the British Army! The best athletes in the Army can compete internally, at a combined service level, against Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, and with civilian teams. Check this out: http://www.army.mod.uk/events/23317.aspx

I did see that you have mentioned that you are interested in policing, have you thought about joining the Royal Military Police? You would need Minimum of two GCSEs in Maths and English Language at Grade C Or a Level 2 equivalent qualification in Literacy and Numeracy. You could also do an apprenticeship along side this role and gain a Diploma in Policing!! You could also gain your full UK driving licence and Home Office - approved qualifications.

If you have a look at this link it will show you more information on the role of a Royal Military Police Soldier: https://www.army.mod.uk/rolefinder/role/192/military-police-soldier

Hope this helps

Out of curiosity, what makes you not want to be a builder or any other skilled work? When qualified, the average salary is 37K which is above the national average.
