Places to perform in manchester

As in poetry, music, comedy, plays, are there a lot of places?

For poetry - not a clue I'm afriad, it's not really my thing.

Comedy - the two big comedy clubs are Comedy Store and Frog and Bucket. I know the latter has a 'Beat the Frog' night which is for people who are starting a career in comedy. There's also a UoM Comedy Club http://manchesterstudentsunion.com/groups/comedy-society

Plays - the facilities on campus are within the Martin Harris Centre and the Contact Theatre. In town there's the Royal Exchange, Palace Theatre, and I'm sure there are lots of local am dram clubs too.

Sorry I can't be of more help - I was never much of a performer myself!
