Can/should you accept multiple offers?

Since I'm from overseas, I'm not really that familiar with the whole process so please forgive me if this question is somewhat naive. Does accepting an offer in any way commit you to attending? Should/can you accept more than one?

There is no commitment, but a few courses (still quite rare) ask a deposit which will be non-refundable if you withdraw.
Unless your first choice makes you an offer that you know you can meet all the conditions of before anyone else, you may want to accept one or more others as backup. This may also be the case if you are waiting to hear about scholarships from different unis. Once you know for sure where you will be going, you should let those you will be withdrawing from know as soon as possible.
