Hi,

I am a Newman Student and although I haven't studied your course, I have seen people complete this degree. Many of my friends have studied Primary Education QTS and thoroughly enjoyed it. You do have a lot of placement included within the 3 years of the course, but it is all very much rewarding. It allows you to gain experience and help you to choose what Subject you would love to specialise in.

The HeadStart programme is a great way to settle in to the university before everyone arrives back. You can become familiar with the campus- which will be like a second home to you for the next 3+ years- as well as learn about the type of teaching we offer at Newman. Many people on this course are very friendly, lecturers and all. Make sure you check Freshers out as well, because it's a great way to make friends.
Feel free to check out the details on the website, if you have not already done so.

Hi Rosh

I recently took my skills test for numeracy and literacy, I definitely recommend looking up spelling list as I found quite a few online and a few came up on the test. I also recently finished from Newman, I'm sure you will enjoy it. The campus is small so it is easy to get to know everyone, and the lecturers are great!

I definitely recommend the HeadStart course. It helped me with all the important skills I needed when I started the course such as referencing, wider reading and critical thinking. It also helped me to plan my journey and make friends. The friends I made at HEADstart were the same people I was with until my final year, so I'm really glad I decided to go.

Tanni is right Rosh.It is a great way to make friends and meet people. You will quickly get use to the campus and recognise the staff at Newman, and realise how friendly everyone can be. Are you thinking of living in Halls of Residence or commuting?J.

Heya guys, I am on holidays for the first week of September so I emailed Newman and they said I can't join the HeadStart programme from the 2nd week! But anyways thanks for the advice guys  Also, since I am living in the midlands, I will be commuting from home.

Newman is a small, friendly university so you won't have any problems joining in and making friends, I'm sure. :h:

That's okay glitzy, don't worry about missing it. You will soon pick up everything quite quickly. At least you have your place at Newman, so you can enjoy your holiday comfortably, knowing that you've got somewhere to go this academic year.

I also commuted from home as I am from the Midlands too (Harborne in fact). It wasn't fair at all but I still made friends by getting involved with things in freshers week and outside of my course; like societies and sports teams. Please check them all out, because I am sure there will be a few you like.

A lot of the nights in freshers week will take place at the Senses Bar on campus so please check it out when you get back from holiday. You will meet so many friendly people down there and possibly friends for life.

Congrats on getting into Newman.

Joe
