What A-levels should I take?

I'm currently a GCSE student and my A-levels are just around the corner. At the moment I'm thinking of doing biology, psychology and english literature but I'm not too sure on my fourth option. My parents think it would be good if I took economics as it will help me in the future, even if I don't take that route, but I've never really done much at school to do with economics, so who knows, I might be really good at it.

PLEASE HELP!!
Teachers are no help because they all seem to be pretty biased on their subjects.
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

I'm going to quote in Puddles the Monkey now so she can move your thread to the right place if it's needed. :h: :yy:

Spoiler

Thank you that would be helpful

You don't need prior knowledge to do economics they teach you from scratch. Moving on your options depend on what you want to do. Which is what by the way

Chemistry's a good choice then. I don't know whether it is required for human biology, but should be taken.

If you're considering biological sciences you should have chemistry. Most of biology or medicinal courses require chemistry.
Maths is also advisable
I would say take bio, chem, maths, psychology for what you said

I second this but chemistry is pretty hard so be aware of what your getting into. Also psychology isn't needed

Yeah psychology isn't needed for any degree but seeing he/she was going to take Pychology or English literature I'd say psychology is slightly more relevant

I took biology, english literature, history and geography for AS and honestly was in the same problem with my fourth choice.
Go with what you enjoy. Economics in undoubtedly a great subject but its heavily maths and statistics based (obviously), so perhaps taking it without maths will make it harder to understand, although still do-able.
Biology and psychology will compliment each other well, probably, and english is great (but I'm biased).
Honestly, don't be pressured to do what your parents want - its not their future, it's yours. Just make sure you're doing what you enjoy, whether economics or not, and you will do better at it than struggling to get through an AS or A level in something you took for the sake of it or pleasing your parents.
Good luck!

I would take chemistry but my chosen sixth form won't allow me to take it as I need 2 Bs to take it and already have a C

I'm not completely sure what you mean. The best explanation I can come up with is that you took GCSE science last year and got a C and are taking additional science without retaking science this year. This doesn't explain why you didn't retake so I'm stumped. Also, generally the entry requirements for biology are the same as for chemistry, which is another problem with this theory.
If this is true and you aren't retaking for some reason, you can still get BB overall if you get an A or A* in additional science.
