Sacked over nothing. The show is nothing without him. The BBC clearly isn't interested in making lots of money.

Seriously? So what, if it was up to you you'd allow him to do whatever he wanted and not have to suffer any consequences? He attacked and verbally abused a producer ffs, no-one should be allowed to be untouchable in any organisation, regardless of who they are and how much money they make.

He didn't "assault" anyone. Assault is a very strong word. It was nothing. I can't BELIEVE they sacked him over this, shocking.

Well by the sounds of it they'll at least attempt to get Hammond and May to finish the three episodes remaining for this series before 2016.

Clarkson's probably the only winner out of this though, he's likely going to a get a blank cheque from sky.

James May: "Clarkson is a knob but I quite like working with him"

May also suggested that the three presenters come as a 'package' that many people won't understand

They can discipline him. Force him to make a public apology, make him pay compensation to the other party involved. But for the love of God, don't sack the lead presenter of the most successful British show in history!! This show has made hundreds of millions and it's broadcast in over a hundred countries, the only reason it ever achieved success was because of Clarkson, he carried the show since day 1. He's the biggest money-maker for any British television network. The show is absolutely nothing without him, the only reason anyone watches top gear is because of Clarkson's humour and the way he belittled his co-hosts. Sacking him just...doesn't make any sense! They could have suspended him briefly, but not like this! Madness. The show is dead without him.

So what do you think assault is then?

Presumably if your boss hit you and verbally abused you you would think that was fine?

So in other words one rule for the rich and another for everyone else?

If you hit someone there are consequences, and an employer cannot and should not treat someone differently just because they are famous or rich. How serious would his crime have to be before you think he should be sacked?

He's had enough warnings for misconduct already

No, no, no, no, no.

The guy is a snivelling wuss and went to the hospital.

He's probably been acting like this for months. Clarkson had been working all day and was planning on working all night, and this twerp had been responsible for food. He had given them nothing all day, and despite being asked well in advance to arrange food, he failed to deliver.

Clarkson has back problems, he's worked all day in cars he finds it uncomfortable to drive around in, he told the producer well in advance he needed some food, and had planned to work all night on the script. And this producer couldn't, after a day of notice, deliver something as basic as a food request.

Then when Clarkson gave this incompetent fool a punch (which, any person with any level of self-respect would feel justified in giving), his response was "I'll work with Jeremy again if he goes to anger management classes!"

Seriously, the guy sounds like an 8 year old girl. Grow a pair, Oisin. Stop being an incompetent loser, and fight back like a man instead of running to the hospital because of a punch.

Glad the Tories are decriminalising non-payment of the License fee. Hope the monster that is the BBC is privatised, sold off, its socialist leaders sacked and its programs taken off air.

Is there a video of the fight?
There goes Top Gear along with him.
Quite frankly i don't think the BBC had any other option but to drop him. I can't see May and Hammond renewing their contracts so i have no idea how the BBC plan to revive Top Gear, and quite frankly i don't think many presenters would want to take the job.

Whether i want to see them return on a different channel though really depends on what it is they'll be doing.
Good!

I still can't understand why people keep saying the BBC will go down the drain because of Top Gear. No they won't... They get money from tv license, plus do you really think that one of the biggest news stations for this country (and pretty much the world) will all come to an end because of one show and one pathetic excuse for a man?

Can see Hammond and May also leaving the BBC soon and calling the show a different name on a another channel. Top Gear is nothing without Clarkson.

He punched a bloke in the face and caused his lip to swell and bleed. He also launched an incredible verbal attack on this poor bloke, the man's an animal.

Oh nooo, poor Clarkson! The 54 year old man is so feeble that he has to get other people to take care of his food, otherwise he'll starve for the day :frown:

And really? You're trying to gain sympathy for a man that drives sports cars for a living? (literally any guys dream) hahaha. Get a grip and try living in the real world pal.

This is great news. Now the BBC can go back to its mission of spreading Labour Party propaganda Informing, Educating and Entertaining™ .

Apparently Jim Davidson wants to present Top Gear.

As much as I dislike Clarkson...

And you know this detailed information how?

So you are arguing that punching people is the appropriate response to an argument?

You really sound like such a charming human being...
