Observations

Can anyone tell me what you'd expect to see with the following? And tell me if mine are right so far? (Observations meaning colour solution, precipitate, gas, solid dissolving, solid/solution changing colour, no reaction):

1)MgCO3 (s) + 2HCl (aq) ---> MgCl2 (aq) + H2O (l) + CO2 (g)
-Bubbling?
-Solid Dissolves?

2)NaOH (aq) + HNO3 (aq) ---> NaNO3 (aq) +H2O (l)

3) K2CO3 (aq) + 2HNO3 (aq) ---> 2KNO3 (aq) + H2O (l) + CO2 (g)
-Bubbling?

4) Cu(NO3)2 (aq)+K2CO3 (s) ---> CuCO3 (s) + 2KNO3 (aq)
-CuCO3 precipitate formed? What colour?

5) Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + Fe(s) ---> Fe(NO3)2 (aq) + Cu (s)

Also are the state symbols right (particularly the highlighted ones)?

Thanks so much! :smile:

You wouldn't see anything in (2)

I'm blue/green colour blind, so (4) is hard for me. I think it's a blue/green solid, though.

In (5) the blue-ish copper nitrate will decolourise and copper (which is red/brown/pink/copper coloured/black?) would appear on the surface of the iron.

State symbols look fine to me - the ones on the reactant side we can't know if they're aq, but at least they're all soluble.

Thanks so much! Are all the observations I wrote okay?
