The dark web?

I've been reading up on it and it seems truly fascinating, but was wondering if people, preferably who've been there, can tell me what it's really like?

Say I just typed in "Fake passports" or "Assassins for hire" into the required search engine would stuff come up? It can't be that simple, surely? I imagine there's coded messages and stuff.

*Disclaimer - I am not in need of an Assassin.

Do you really think the NSA and GCHQ don't monitor Tor exit nodes?

Friend warned me against going on it because there is very little protection on the dark web. So if you're not an expert, chances are you're gonna get hacked. Yeah apparently its full of illegal stuff like drug trading and child pornography.

Do you really think Tor is the only way of concealing your IP address?
People can route through an SSH tunnel, connect through a proxy, Socks5 proxy, VPN, virtual machine, and an RDP. Well only the most determined criminals would do such a thing. But the notion that Tor is the only thing used by malicious users to conceal IPs is a misconception.

@OP, if law enforcement wanted to find you they will. Most of the time law enforcement agents only care when its to do with fraud, cp, big scale ddos and hacking websites.

This dark web are normally in the form of a forum. The dark web consists of much more than just hiring an assassin lol. I would like to throw in hackers/hacking as being part of the dark web too.

Also, why are you acting like a Google search consisting of "fake passports and hiring an assassin" is a sin? There's nothing wrong with knowledge. I can almost guarantee you that you won't get in any trouble for researching for these things, nor for visiting their site. Curiosity is not a crime.

Stop spreading misconceptions. FBI vans will not come for you simply because you visited such sites or that you learned about such malicious activities.

i think its like the criminal world of the internet
if you want drugs you cant just go out and "get" a drug dealer you have to know people that can put you in contact
id imagine its like that , you probarly need to get to know someone to share addresses with you though various other accounts
Dark Web, makes 4chan look cute and lovely.
I've heard that the 'Twitter' dark web links lead to videos of stuffed dead little girl bodies being raped and all sorts...

There are a lot of videos on YouTube of people exploring the deep web which is almost just as satisfying.

So basically if your not looking to buy a rare drug, purchase a nuclear weapon, join a pedophile forum or purchase human slaves I wouldn't bother.

People don't really risk buying drugs off the deep web if they can get them locally. For example a user would buy rare or finite drugs such as DMT or LSD. Buying off the internet is a lot more professional and all drugs are tested and legit, on the street you could be getting anything.

The average people would find it hard to get their hands on a kilo of pure heroin or cocaine. So if you want to start drug dealing the dark web can help you with that!

I learnt about the deep web without any contacts, we have the internet now!

You would be right in saying you need to a lot of knowledge to buy drugs off the deep web without a swat team breaking through your door the moment you open the box...
It's simply websites which are not indexed by search engines, if you download tor you can go there.

Going there in itself is neither risky nor illegal, so whilst illegal content exists there, illegal content exists on the surface web also and you won't see anything nasty or depraved unless you actually go searching for it (in which case it's your own fault). I assume you are referring to the hidden wiki, there are a lot of scams, I mean if you try to call an assassination, you pay in Bitcoins, they will probably just take your money and not actually do anything since you will not be able to trace them and they have your money anyway.

>no you dont need to have contacts

Partly true, if a website is not indexed by google, how do you find websites unless you know the URL and how do you know the URL unless you know the website's owner who personally gives it to you?

US Government runs most of them. It has legitimate uses, e.g. journalists in countries where there is no free press and anyone who criticises the government's life is in danger can use it to get messages out.

Tor even says on their service that their service is not that is needed to stay safe.
Note: Your IP address can always be found in law enforcement are determined to find you. You can't run forever.

Browsing the deep web isn't illegal, doing something illegal on there is...

If everyone could be watched by Authorities, why don't police stop their transaction or even arrest them due to illegal businesses?
