Its simple really young bodies are generally more attractive in both men and women. A lot of Older women are not too bothered about a less attractive body which comes with age however men (being more visual) tend to be. I mean there are many older men who prefere women around their own age but there are a lot more women that prefere their own age to men, if that makes sense.

There is the fertility argument but men become less fertile/lose testosterone/strengrh with age. There are women who prefere older men but there are also many who swoon over young men. Looking at monkeys the male monkeys actually prefere older females to the young females which messes up the evolution theory a bit.
