It is difficult to control extraneous variable because participant personality might have affecter the result.

Umm you would need to be able to control participant personality, which is not really possible.

However, the only thing you can do is make sure you select a random sample.

You see, psychologists have found that volunteers have a specific personality and therefore if you just ask for volunteers your results will be biased in several ways.

The only thing you can do is make sure you select a random sample, perhaps using a random number table. If you cannot do that (most likely the case), just make sure you conveniant sample is still somewhat random (every other person, or ever person in a class).

By carrying it out in a controlled condition, using the experimental design but each person have a different personality so it's quite hard

As long as use various methods such as experimental designs and the type of sampling method you decide to use then the influence of extraneous variables can be controlled.
