Default JP Morgan interview

Hi!

I have my first interview with JP Morgan within Markets for the summer internship programme in a week.

Just wondering if anyone else has had one and their experiences?

Thanks!

very, very friendly!! Test was easy but i messed it up.. interviews were nice: 10 min about my cv, 15 min brainteaser, finance stuff, 5 min asking questions to them..

nice atmosphere, helpful, friendly, good.

good luck & enjoy!

I got an internship offer from them a couple of weeks ago. Great company, fantastic application process and of course I have accepted.

Mine was for IBD, only had 2 interviews and numerical test for first round.

I had a bad experience there. The second person who interviewed me didn't seem to believe I knew anything about IBD and IB in general, asked me some very very technical questions and spent about 5 mins explaining what IBD is. I found the whole experience rather insulting, and know others who felt the same. I got really good feedback from the interview, but their reason for not taking me through to the next round was that they didn't believe I actually wanted to work for them!!

Best of luck, hope yours goes better than mine

(Mine was the IBD BTW, and one of the earliest interviews they did back in September)

Hi guys,

Crikey! JPM seem to be giving out a fair few internships already. My congratulations to those of you with offers.

I've been in Siberia for the last 4 months and have only just made my application. I went on the Spring Week so i automatically go to the 1st round. I hope there are still some places left!

Just to emphasise that JPM are a very friendly and amazingly efficient organisation. They are the only bank i can firmly say that i would work for regardless of pay/reputation/progression etc.

one technical question i thought up of myself:

if it takes 5 dumb people to get one internship between them, how many dumbasses work for all the investment banks in the world!? LOL

the answer is: say 50 people for 1 place at any 1 bank, altogether say 10,000 apply to all banks 1 country, = 200 interns roughly are dumb. Multiply by the number of major financial centres and you have about 600 dumbasses working in investment banks im bored!

Typical IBD brainteasers (making this up to help u guys)

1) How many people use treadmills in UK ?
2) Given the current market conditions, if a company wants to raise money, would you advise the company to raise debt or sell equity? why? Would it matter if the company is in the general retail sector ? What if the company has existing debt/(equity + debt) ratio of 65%?

3) Using the information below:

Market cap: 1.5bn

Short-term debt : 500mm
Long-term debt: 50mm
Cash : 300mm
Minorities: 50mm
Associates : 10mm

EBITDA: 150mm
Profit Afer Tax / Net Income : 80mm

Calculate the Firm Value.
What is the Firm Value/EBITDA? If this company was to be taken over with debt, what would be the 'quick/rough' number of years until all the debt would be paid off?
What is the Price to Earnings Ratio?

Note: mm = million

Thanks......There are obviosuly no right or wrong answers for brain teasers such as how many people use treadmills in the UK. YOu use populations stats and logical reasoning(ie assumptions) right?
