I've got a question about King's: I've heard several times now that King's students don't wear gowns at formal events. Is that true?

Yep. We only wear gowns for graduation. Members of Kings Voices do wear gowns when they sing in the chapel though.

I see him jogging around King's in shorts occasionally. That's all I know.

He admits loads more women than men- the ratio is something stupid like 36:4 women:men. He throws a lot of drunken parties for his students. He swears a lot; my friend was told her greek was 'a load of ****ing ****'. He works his students HARD but they do reaaaallly well. He's also on sabbatical. Robin Osborne makes his own shoes, and the left one doesn't match the right one. Ummm... he also looks like a shrivelled Woody Allen. I think that's my knowledge of Zeus exhausted.

...but they look like bowling shoes which makes him cool in my eyes.

Vron is your username inspired by the porn queen married to Barry Self in Martin Amis' Money: a suicide note? Sorry, for such a random question.

I will answer for Vron as she rarely comes on here.

Unfortunately, her username is a shortened version of her real name rather than anything porn-related. :frown:

I'm at King's in October studying SPS is there a reading list that I can look up on the net? It seems I'm not as resourceful as I once thought...
What about a book list for classics??
If they want you to read anything they'll send you a list. That's generally how it goes. If you want to read something over the summer anyway, just check out the faculty websites and see if they have any reading list on there.
I'll just say thank you to the people at King's - I visited Cambridge today and thought the college and people seemed lovely (even though I made an appearance in the middle of the exam period). Met a nice philosopher who showed me the dining hall and even gave me advice on applying to Warwick. Cambridge really is an incredible place.
