Corpus Christi College (Cambridge) Students and Applicants

Hey everyone, this is my first post ever, cos I'm lazy and such.

Anyway- I got an offer for Law at Corpus, '07. Wahey.

Since then I've been addicted to photos of the college and browsing the website over and over again (oh dear...).

I can't believe the term dates! 5 months of holidays a year? Scandalous, what's my 3 grand paying for? Not that that's particular to Corpus, I just felt like making a point.

See you in October, offer people.

Hey Danny; I'm going to be a Corpuscal (correct noun?) lawyer as well with any luck! Yeah; I can relate to the obsessive photo-browsing, etc too. I'm so excited!

Hey everyone,

Just to keep this thread going, how many of you chose Corpus after seeing the tv? Tell the truth now.

Of course I'm only joking... *whistles*

To people with offers, has your Cam letter had a good or bad effect on your revision?

At the beginning I was too happy to revise, then I realised, "I need 3 As!" and so revised, but then my eyes strayed to the letter again, and I was too happy to revise.

A vicious circle indeed.
Although the TV is very impressive I must say that I had never seen it before going for interview!

What subject have you recieved an offer for TheTheif?

As for revision, mine is going ok...could do more; I need to get those grades!
Hi, just got an offer from corpus after being pooled from Clare college so I'm 2007 entry for Japanese

I've never really looked into Corpus though so I was wondering if anyone could share some of their insights into why its such a wonderful college etc. and the accomodation  thanks~

I have an offer for MML (Spanish and Russian ab-initio), you are going to be a lawyer, right? congrats

kitsunechan, congrats on your offer! Ooh, Japanese, very very cool. I chose Corpus because it seems really friendly, its central in Cambridge, its only a little bit from the languages faculty, and because I went there on a summer school last year (so it's really the only college i know well).

I've only stayed in college accomodation twice, but i was really surprised at how nice it was and from what i've seen, the rooms are quite big. (well, you do need room to accomodate the HUGE desk) Memories of older siblings' rooms/cells in University of Ulster definitely make Corpus halls look like pure luxury. Yay Corpus!

Are there any current Corpuscals on TSR who are involved in CCCP? The website hasn't been updated for quite a while, so I worried that it might be extinct. Somebody tell me I'm wrong. :frown:

I am *so* excited at the prospect of strolling into Corpus after a day of hardcore essay writing and a night of mad partying that I'm finding it difficult to focus on these darned exams!

My friend got an offer for 2 E's - yes 2 E's. I, on the other hand, don't have that luxury and thus need to lock myself in a room and do nothing but revise for the next six months!

Bring on the 3 A's !

Thanks  I'm really happyCorpus is still in the central part of cambridge and although its a small college it means I'll get to know everyone really well so  Wish I'd gone in to have a look during an open day though, might go at some point before October, have to concentrate on getting those grades now!

Huge desks sound fantastic, my desk at home currently is so covered in paper, files, mess in general

Mine is scattered with 30 revision cards with poetry rhyme schemes and things like METAPHOR! PUN! ALLITERATION! scrawled all over them.

Now I have to learn them all for tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I really want to see Corpus again before October, though I can't realy think of an excuse to go there before then:p:

Haha my desk wasn't big enough for me (in Benet Street)! I ended up moving a cupboard next to my desk as a "desk extension", since the top of the cupboard was roughly the same height as my desk... =P

Accommodation is generally quite good I think. =)

TV's in a room in Old Court...

Aye, I must say taht I was shcoked to get pooled by teh second largest into the second smallest college - wouldn't have thought Corpus took form the pool!

Look forward to meeting you there if I meet my offer! (STEP - hate it!)

Congrats, Andy H, and good luck with STEP, it sounds horrible. *hides in corner away from nasty Step*

Is that why evil people are always step-mothers in stories? because they invented STEP? *ponders*

My English exam was hard and I'm not happy with what I wrote, it was all over the place and waffly as a belgian waffle in Belgium. But, seeing as its English, i could get a really high mark, or a really really low mark, it all depends on the examiner guy/lady. In last year's January exams I was marked 8/30 for one essay and 11/30 for the other one. So, this time round I'm HOPING for inconsistency.

So, back on topic, what did all of you think of your interviews and interviewers in Corpus?

For Russian I was interviewed by a lady from Sidney Sussex, because there's no Russian specialist in Corpus, and she was really nice. For Spanish, I was interviewed by Ms. Mayo, my future (I hope) DoS. And although she spoke super-fast Spanish, she was lovely and didn't make me feel at all like an idiot.

So, that's good. ;dancejf;

Yeah, good luck with those!! Its harsh to give more tests on top of the interviews and regular A2 exams!

english exams are always hit and miss for me :s-smilie: When I think I've messed it up, I get a good mark but when I thought it was ok I totally got the exam technique wrong. Hope it all goes well

Didn't have interviews at corpus, pooled from Clare but it turns out my general interviewer (nothing general about the interview though!) at clare is the DOS for oriental studies at corpus so  least I've seen the dos already even if i havent looked at the college! How did you find corpus in general btw?
My interviwers were cool but the interviews were really hard. In my first interview one of the law profs was munching on a peppermint cream bar which was quite off-putting!

I wish I could talk about Corpus Interviews!

I had 3 at John's and they were a mixed bunch I think. General went really well and the two subjects between them had monents of "hell yeah I can do this" and more embarrasing moments of "Eeep - er - I don't know....sorry"

I guess that interviews are pretty standard everywhere though? End of the day they give you a score 1-10 on performance, which makes me think it is rather subjective upon who your interviewer is? (though when applying for a college that shouldn't matter as all applicants to same subject will have that interviewer - just when it goes for Open app or into pool)

STep is going to be a barell of laughs - I started working through a book written by some Cambridge dude and thought "Hell yeah I can do these first 6 questions"...realised they were STEP I when I will be taking STEP II and STEP III.

Encouraging start though! :P
