I'm reading for a degree in English Literature, though, so I spend more time reading, writing and speaking English these days.
Edit: @alasdairR: Dickensian? You mean you were fed disgusting porridge, taught nothing but facts and flogged at regular intervals?Last edited by hobnob; 14-12-2006 at 22:54. -

Sadly Ich konnen sprechen nur ein bisschen deutsch!
But I hope to improve with time. -
Re: any germans?Ich liebe dem deutschen leute! But i'd sooner be British than German. There's not much helping the German perception amongst the English-speaking world, although from what I can gather they're very hospitable towards us.(Original post by hannah_dru)
Hallo!!
Yes, there are
I'm very enthusiastic about Germany, but sadly I'm English

Re: any germans?Well, one and a half out of three, as I went to a 'staatlich anerkannte Privatschule mit Ganztagsschulung'. So the food was pretty awful. Add to which the rather...old fashioned approach of Gymnasien in general...(Original post by hobnob)

I suppose I'm lucky I only went to a rubbishy state school, then: at least I was spared the school meals...

What songs that from? And what's he actually saying?
you really wanna know what he's saying? well, let's put it this way: both genders have its options, imagine what one could do if he/she/it had both... that's roughly what it's about
it's "zwitter" from rammstein - the pride of germany's music-scene
WHAT? old fashioned? you can use a graecum and latinum EVERYWHERE! just think about...ähhh....well....ok, it was hell and it still is but hey: it's over in 6 months!(Original post by alasdair_R)

That is a good album! I think that's what I like about Rammstein the most.
@ Astor: No I wouldn't if I could help it! My best friend is German and she's the most kindest lady I have ever met. -
Re: any germans?I love the fact they still call it the bloody Graecum and the Lateinum....I mean, what's wrong with 'Griechisch' and 'Latein'?!(Original post by Faye Valentine)

Re: any germans? That's because it refers to the qualifications, not to the languages themselves.(Original post by alasdair_R)
I love the fact they still call it the bloody Graecum and the Lateinum....I mean, what's wrong with 'Griechisch' and 'Latein'?!
Originally those were the names of the exams you took after studying the languages for a number of years. So "Graecum" or "Latinum" refer to the fact you actually obtained a certificate of sorts in those languages as opposed to just studying Latin or Greek for a bit.
Hmm, that was a bit off-topic, wasn't it?
