Writing notes on a whiteboard

I've written all my notes in designated text books and my revision technique is to read a topic section and re write all I remember in my head, then once I've read the whole topic I do a past paper.
Is this a good way to revise as I feel it isn't

I do the exact same thing, I just copy all my class notes out into my own sort of revision guide then just re-read them.
