Mediocre A-Levels, How will this affect my chance at the Bar?

I'm a second year student studying law. All I've ever wanted to do is be a barrister but I have heard from people on the Bar course at my university that mediocre A-Levels (mine were BBCD) often mean you won't be considered for opportunities such as pupillages. Does anyone know if this is true? So far this year I have got a first in both of the assessments I have done and I know I can keep this up for the remainder of my degree. It just seems pointless if my A-Levels are going to get in the way.

It's not that A-levels have any direct impact on your chances but the university you attend might play some role, I am not sure of this but I mean most reputable universities require AAA or at least AAB for law. So I'm not sure if degrees from less reputable universities are considered equal to the more reputable ones. If they are, then A-levels shouldn't be a problem.
