Why does too much aggregate make a concrete brittle?

Thanks!
According to how much cement and gravel in a certain relation do you use, it comes to a strong crystallization, causing by hydration of water where the grains of cement and gravel are attracted by the negative charge of the oxygen-atoms of the water molecules. A strong crystallization leads to a strong solidity as aggregate, but as many little crystals are intermeshed with each other in this form of aggregate, the concrete is brittle.
