Role of Cytotoxic T Cells

Can anyone explain the role of ctyotoxic T Cells please? Do they bind to cells containing the pathogen and release perforins to kill it, causing the pathogen to be released so it can be engulfed? Or bind directly to the pathogen and kill it? Please help! Thanks
They bind to the antigen and release perforins, and then through the holes in the membrane inject granzymes that destroy the cell. Hope this helps!
