Buying textbooks for AS/A-level?

I'm taking History, Economics, Psychology and Photography for AS Level and I plan on taking them all to A-Level.
Is it worth buying textbooks for my subjects or just going with the ones at school? (I'm pretty sure my school doesn't hand them out but I could be wrong!)

Check with your school - whether they definitely don't hand them out, and if they actually recommend them, and if so which particular ones - some types are only any good for specific subjects. You'll also have to double check you're getting ones for your specific exam board and syllabus! You could always wait until you've started the courses and see if you think it's worth having your own copies of things then
