what are the advantages and disadvantages of using biodiesel instead of petroleum

Here are some advantages and disadvantages which come into my mind:

advantages:
- its more enviromentally friendly, as the rate of emissions is reduced.
- it saves fossil fuels, as biodiesel can be used as an alternative.

disadvantages:
- crop plants (maize plants in terms of E10) are more used to make fuel instead of creating foods.
- the higher cultivation of crop plants causes an increase of animal population which may jeopardize the ecological balance.
- biodiesel cannot be used as fuel by every single motor vehicle, as some motors may collapsed.
