Hi, can I get some help with part b and d

For D I know that A and B are independent = False

and A and C are independent = True

Because A and C are independent pr(AnC) = Pr(A) * Pr(C) = O.5 * 0.8 = 0.4

How do I work out Pr(AnB) because they are independent I can't use the above method I have the formula Pr(AuB) = Pr(A) + Pr(B) - Pr(AnB) but can't use this as I don't know Pr(AuB)

Also why is it that A and B are dependent

and A and C are independent

Thanks

For b), don't think about independence. (You can use your answers for b) to check whether the events are independent for part d)).

What are the sets ABA\cap B, ACA\cap C and ABA\cup B?
