CIE English IGCSE

Hi guys!

I have my English IGCSE on Tuesday (Extended Reading) and I was really confused about the word limits for Questions 1 and 2: are there any set word limits or will you be penalised if you write too much?

Also, does anyone have any good website links for past papers?

Thanks

loads of past papers there mate

and it does say there is a word limit but if you go over I don't think they would penalise you for Q1+2 but Q3 as it is a summary task they may

Thank you so much! I've been looking for papers everywhere:smile:
Hi!

Yeah they don't care for Q1/Q2 but you will get penalised in Q3.

I'm doing it too, I'm so scared!

Anyone have any tips for an A*?

Thanks
Question 1 - get as much detail from the text into your answer and be imaginative with your inferences.
Question 2 - Use MICE (Meaning, Imagery, Connotations, Effect"
Question 3 - Be specific with bullet pts and do not repeat yourself
Strategy - Read Text A, identify Purpose, audience, Writer, Key info and text type for question 1, plan and write question 1. Read text B and identify pts, fill in the 15 bullet pts, pick out the words for question 2 and analyse and then do 3B
Reading Texts - 10 mins
Question 1 - 45 mins
Question 3a - 30 mins
question 2 - 20 mins
question 3b - 10 mins

I thought if you write too much for Q1 and Q3, it comes out of your mark /5 for quality of writing.
