Kenya strongly condemns this resolution. We hope and encourgae Iran not to give up on their quest for a peaceful nuclear power.

Because Israel has had nuclear weapons for decades, yet Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia have not been destroyed. Whatever Israel's localised blunders, that is a clear and undeniable indication of restraint on a larger scale.

What happens if the existance of Israel is threatned? What will happen if there is a war and Israel is close to losing? How much restraint do you think they will have? They may have a lot during peace time but that says nothing about their reactions during war.

[/OOC]
Then it is in the Middle East's interest, as a whole, not to put Israel in such a desperate situation. Deterrence works.

Except Israel of course.

Indeed. How forgetful of me.

[OOC] The same could be said for any country. What's your point? It was you who said all countries should be allowed nuclear weapons! [/OOC]

Is Kenya's official position on this matter really one of exhorting nations to violate Security Council Resolutions?

We believe like Iran that this is an unfair sanction and has no basis on fact. Just fear. Iran has the option to ignore this one like *certain countries* have been ignoring UN resolutions.

Germany observes that Iran is not 'ignoring' the resolution, but instead going out of its way to defy it.

Iran does not have the option to ignore UN resolutions if it wishes to remain a member.

If you believe other nations have been flaunting UN resolutions you may call them to account elsewhere as long as you can back up your allergations.

Iraq condemns this decision.

As a victim of years of economic sanctions responsible for the deaths of one million of our people. We feel our view must be respected. UNICEF has put the number of child deaths to 500,000, our medical services went from the most advanced in the region to woefully inadequate, sanctions target citizens and not their rulers.

They will solve nothing and will only impose needless suffering.

Tanzania completely agrees that Iran has been treated unfairly in a International Organization, which is not biased. Of course Iran does not have the option of 'ignoring' the resolution, but the International Community has the option of expressing concern. Iran has clearly stated that its nuclear programe is for peaceful purposes, and not for weapons of mass destruction!! Tanzania has complete faith on the fact that Iran is developing nuclear energy and not the nuke!!

Thank you, Iran just wishes that other countries could see what the benefits of having nuclear power could be for our country.
Reply 34
We offered you the chance (through Russia) to have peaceful nuclear energy to benefit Iran and therefore remove the threat of sanctions, but Iran refused.

Kenya has noticed that China doesn't rely on Russia for it's Nuclear program.

I assume the Kenyan delegate is referring to Israel. In Russia's opinion it is unquestionably hypocritical to ignore the rulings of an organisation while remaining a member, and it is also undeniably a massive blot on Israel's copy-book. However, how precisely Israeli misdeeds give Iran the right to commit the same misdemeanours is beyond us. If Iran does not wish to comply with Resolutions it does not like, it is free to leave the United Nations Organisation.

If you are unwilling to listen to the views of UN members, you too are free to leave.

When you say UN resolutions....do you really mean security council resolutions?

China hasn't threatened a neighbour with obliteration recently, and we already have nuclear weapons anyway.

Kenya is wondering where to mention the military build of short range missiles near the Chinese coast opposite of Taiwan. The break away region that is protected only because the USA is supporting it. We are also pondering were to mention the fact that there are 700 missiles aimed at Taiwan already and that a senior general has said that China may use their nuclear arsenal.
