China assures Kenya the Republic of China is in no danger of attack, nuclear or otherwise, so long as it remains Chinese territory, and we were happy to see your foreign minister support our One China Policy in 2001

If you are unwilling to listen to the views of UN members, you too are free to leave.
I am listening to them, but that's not the point. The point is that compliance with Resolutions is a condition of UN membership under the founding Charter.

When you say UN resolutions....do you really mean security council resolutions?
Possibly.

Indeed, why would China bomb itself in such a manner?

[OOC]On a side point, it's interesting to note that Taiwan was developing nuclear weapons of its own until the US persuaded it to stop in the '70s. I think.[/OOC]

Turkmenistan couldn't care less, as long as this has no impact on our trade agreements with the Iranians.
Italy supports the resolution, and wishes to see more co-operation from Iran before claiming to value Middle-Eastern peace. Italy would wish to warn Iran of the international community's resolve on this matter.
peru supports the resolution fully and urges iran to suspends its nuclear activities

The unanimous adoption by the UN Security Council on 23 December 2006 of a firm resolution imposing sanctions on Iran's nuclear and missile programs underscores the international community's commitment to addressing concerns about Iran's nuclear activities.

Australia will now be proceeding to implement the terms of the resolution. These include a ban on the provision of assistance and the sale, transfer or procurement of certain military and dual-use items related to Iran's uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities, and ballistic missile program.

Australia fully endorses the Security Council conviction that Iran's suspension of all uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities as well as full, verified compliance with the requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors will contribute to a diplomatic, negotiated solution.

The onus is now on Iran as a responsible member of the United Nations to abide by all Security Council decisions and cooperate fully with the IAEA to prove without doubt that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

There is no proof that Irans nuclear research is for weaponry. If this a proliferation issue, why are we not punishing those companies which sold Iran the material?

If we continue to mount pressure on Iran and continue to favour aggression, there will be more reason for Iran to develop nuclear weapons, not less.
Any threat the west feels is its own fault, toppling democratic government in Iran and installing a violent dictator...funding Iraq to invade them...

Remember that any invasion of Iran, any attack on the persian people for ANY reason will result in a third world war. The middle east is chaotic enough as it is...

Turkmenistan highly doubts it, Iran would need allies for that happen:wink:

Russia is confused. Since when did the West sponsor the Iranian revolution, and since when was the Shah an elected ruler?

yep...it was the other way around - putting saddam in place to topple Iran, who they were previously friendly with...

With all due respect, Germany has been extremely efficient in detecting and penalising individuals and companies on our soil who have been connected to the sale of relevent materials to Iran.

Firstly, the resolution imposed does not code for any military penalty on Iran. Second of all, if we are in risk of a world war, surely allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons would be rather stupid.

Thats the point. Iran doesn`t have anything!

Its warmongering. Again.
Iran doesn't have anything, but the world does not trust it to behave if it does get anything.

Preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is, in fact, the precise opposite of warmongering.

In light of recent news (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/02/05/iran.nuclear.ap/index.html) it is clear that Iran has no regard for this organization or anything that we stand for.
Is the Finnish delegate suggesting Iran be ejected from the UN?

No, but we aren't sure why Iran hasn't left on their own accord.

No, but we aren't sure why Iran hasn't left on their own accord.

Lebanon suspects they haven't left of their own accord for the same reason the US hasn't - neither has a desire to ruffle unnecessary feathers when there is so much ruffling to be done in other areas.
Iran just think they're going to get away with it.

Kenya is wondering where to mention the military build of short range missiles near the Chinese coast opposite of Taiwan. The break away region that is protected only because the USA is supporting it. We are also pondering were to mention the fact that there are 700 missiles aimed at Taiwan already and that a senior general has said that China may use their nuclear arsenal.

Irrelevant. If you would like to condemn China on its threatening attitude, please post a seperate thread.
[OOC] Though personally I am against China on that matter [/OOC]

The South Korean government believes that Iran had been given a chance. We support the motion.
