GPA's and A-Levels?

Next year I'll be applying for university, and I'll probably be applying within the UK; but out of curiosity I looked at several universitys in the U.S.
I noticed it said that for a particular course you needed a GPA of at least 2.0.
What does this mean? And what A-Level results are equivalent to this?

P.S : I do the three sciences and maths at As and next year I'll be doing three A-Levels! (dropping Chemistry!)

thanks!
There is no absolute conversion between GPA and A levels, however I looked into this a bit regarding university classes and GPA - a GPA of 2.0 was I think a 2:1. At A level, I would *guess* this to be around ABB maybe? If you keep looking around their websites, they may have a section on international applicants where they should list their entrance requirements for common international qualifications. If not, email their admissions department to ask
I will! Thanks!
I read somewhere that a 4.0 gpa is like A*A*A*

So I would guess that 2.0 is like BBB
