chemistry edexcel A Level unit 3

Hey guys. Got chem IAL Unit 3b in about 4 hrs.
Feeling pretty comfortable coz ive done quite a lot of past paper
3b's. How about u guys?
Do we need to know the conditions for cracking alkanes? and sodium hydroxide + group 1/2 element precipitates? I got the sulfate test but not sure about this???

Sulphate and hydroxide precipitates for group 1 and 2. Theyre all going to be white. However, for magnesium sulphate and barium hydroxide are soluble so no ppte. The rest are white. Hope that makes sense.

I think all we need to know is that thermal cracking requires high temperature/pressure and catalytic cracking requires a catalyst such as Zeolite.
Cracking. High temperature. No oxygen. Presence of oxygen will cause the alkane to combust!
How was the paper? >.< :frown:

how was unit 3??? and what did u guys right for the equation the one worth 2 marks, in the salt analysis question?
