It would depend on the type of question they ask- for example, they could say
"Using material from Item A and elsewhere, assess the claim that the main aim ofeducation policies in the last 25 years has been to create an education market".
I'm not sure, but you could maybe do this:
1) Parentocracy-David (CA- the 'myth of parentocracy'-Gerwirtz)
2)Exam league tables and funding formula (CA- Ball and Whitty- actually favours m.class)
3)New Labour- specialist schools and academies (CA- academies have had mixed results)
4)Policies relating to Gender and ethnicity e.g GIST, MCE and Social inclusion. (CA- girls now have greater access to market, ethnic minorities still discriminated against).

Can you think of another paragraph I could include?

I'm not sure, do you mean what the different perspectives would recommend to create more of an 'education market', for example in the conclusion?

I mean like New Right views etc. also, do you think we could get functionalist roles of the family as a 12 marker?

I doubt the functionalist view on education will come up because it was the 20 mark last year, but you could use it as a counter argument if another perspective came up.

I always get them confused.. but do interpretivists like to look closely at subjective personal information and would they favour personal documents for example because of this? Whereas positivists are objective and would probably prefer lab research to field because they prefer statistical scientific data?

Interpretivists look at why something happens. For example they would rather look at letters for secondary data. They have depth but not breadth.

yeah, you need to first outline all the functionalist views and then do a paragraph on each of the other perspectives critiquing functionalists, that structure will give you full marks

The independent variable is the one that you change, the dependent is the one that you measure (I think):

Interpretivists are always looking for meanings for individuals. So personal documents such as diary entries and letters can tell you WHY something may have happened. E.G suicide notes (which comes up more in A2) tell you about this person and what may have driven them to commit suicide.
