1.(a)(i) 4
(ii) 4
(b) Meristems
2.(a)(i) 25
(ii) So the water on the eggs doesn't change the mass readings - reliable.
(iii) Beaker A
Osmosis occurs from a region of high water concentration to low and so water goes into the egg increasing the mass of the egg.
(b) Active transport requires energy OR Active transport works against the concentration gradient whereas passive transport works along it.
3.(a) TAC GCT ACG CGA CAG
(b)(i) Proteins
(ii) mRNA
Any appropriate description which mentions the sequence of bases I would assume.
(iii) Nucleus
4.(a) First stage = Light Reactions
Two products used in second stage = ATP and Hydrogen
Diffuses out of the leaf = Oxygen
(b) Second stage is called Carbon Fixation
Carbon Dioxide combines with Hydrogen to produce Glucose Sugar
ATP is converted to ADP+Pi
5.(a) Aerobic Respiration
(b) 114 divided by 38 = 3
(c) Because a sperm cell needs to swim towards the egg cell to carry out fertilisation so needs more energy from mitochondria.
