Kings College London vs University of edinburgh Artificial Intelligence Masters

Hi!

I am from India and I have offers for a MSc in Intelligent Systems in Kings College London and MSc in Artificial Intelligence in University of Edinburgh.

Course wise I prefer Univ. of Edinburgh. City wise I prefer London ( but location doesn't really matter)

But I would like to know, Job opportunity wise and reputation wise, in general or in this field, which University is better? I would also like to, if possible, how easy is it to get a job here in India? And if possible your opinion on which University to take.

Please post your opinions and thank you so much for your help!.

I can't really comment on job opportunities yet, as I will start my MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh this fall. Reputation-wise, UoE is usually listed a bit higher than KCL.

UoE's subject-specific reputation, both for informatics and especially AI, however, seems to be stellar according to my extensive search on the matter. I declined offers from HKU, HKUST and St Andrews for it, but that's my personal choice.

I want to specialise in machine learning, and Edinburgh has, in my opinion, the best range of courses on that topic. And the fact that they upload all their lecture videos and slides is really neat.

In the end, you really have the same kind of luxury problem I had: The choice between different great universities, all of which wouldn't be a bad choice.

Also, on a personal note, I think Edinburgh is much more beautiful as a city. If you end up deciding to go to Edinburgh, we'll probably see each other.

Definitely choose Edinburgh. King's has almost no reputation for computer science and Edinburgh is usually slightly higher than King's as a uni in all rankings anyways.

Edinburgh for CS is a huge strength, their informatics building is brand new and it does research with Stanford.

Edinburgh has put enormous resources into developing its informatics and AI research division. I helped out with one or two research studies and the facilities are amazing.

The new informatics building between George Square and Teviot Square is stunning and I'm pretty sure it won some kind of architecture award.
