Has anyone applied for a joint course with history and history of art?

no, i'm doing history of art at york but know a couple of people doing the jont degree.

interested to see you've applied to Nottingham & Bristol. Not sure how they rate for history. I considered both for Hoa but decided against them as the departments are relatively small which restricts options. Also both have fairly weak research RAE ratings (and yes I think it makes a big difference to undergraduates: academics care desperately, so the strong unis attract the best and brightest lecturers; research excellence correlates with good teaching - they write the text books rather than read them out; higher ratings also mean more funding). The Hoa talk at the Nottingham Open Day was also the least inspired of the many I attended.

Still, don't want to put you off Hoa! Maybe it was just a tactic to get easier offers from the unis you really wanted to go to?
