Congrats. I'm a first year mathmo, welcome to the best college in Oxford (or at least, the one with the funniest maths tutor). You probably met Dr Qian during interviews though. How did they go? What were you asked about?
Ha, I couldn't understand what he was saying most of the time! He asked me about the intersections of the line y=kx+1 and a parabola - i.e. the values of k for which there are 0, 1, or 2 intersections. What are the other maths tutors like?

most people who want to get to live in college owned accomodation, with few actually getting to live in college itself (about 30 this year).
How do they decide who does and doesn't live in?

there's a ballot, where names are pulled out of a hat. people at the top choose first etc.

Hey, I didn't get to see the bar while I was there - is there a pool table?

Also, do you know if there are stables in Oxford. I mean have you heard of people who continue to horseback-ride while at Oxford?

The only other tutor we have at the moment is Dr Drutu, who I think would have been in the same interview. She is Romanian (I think), but a lot of people think she is French :/

There are two other tutors, one is on sabbatical though, and I'm not sure why we don't have the other one.

I was there briefly during interview, I don't suppose I met you? I left on the Monday, was there before that. I'm short, with blonde/brown hair and glasses.

yep there is a pool table in the bar, along with dart board and other bar games etc. havent heard of any stables, might be some in a nearby town or something, you'd have to research that.

Yes, I think I had the Romanian as an interview-onlooker. You possibly did see me. What were you doing there?

I was interview hindering. One of my friends had an interview, when she left I decided to hang around for a few days to see the maths applicants.

Hi, also got a maths offer. Was asked a fairly similar question by Dr Qian during the interview (to the parabola / straight line one).

Is anyone/does anyone know of anybody who has recieved an offer to read Music at Exeter College in 2008? (This is based on an assumption of about 2 new undergraduates per year)

I was just clearing my room and taking all the blu-tacked things off the walls when it struck me that next year I won't be allowed to use blu-tack! I will have to use... pins and things... I don't think I could cope with drawing pins...

What if I had an irrational fear of drawing pins?
