    shalom everybody,
i've got a bit of an identity crisis here :
my grandmother is jewish and she married a christian
my mother is jewish/half-jewish and married a christian
so...what am i? the assumption that you're jewish if your mother is jewish would make me jewish...or am i a 1/4 jew!?
    anway, i'd like to join

u r 100% jewish. according to jewish law.
however if the case wouldve been the inverse, ie father jewish, but mother not, then u wouldnt be

jewishness is to do with the mother. not the father.

    Course not; you're very welcome!

Judaism has always been matrilineal and it is a law stated in the Talmud (the oral law) which is derived from the Torah (the written law) somewhere in Deuteronomy.

    todah rabah!
hmmm... i thought so... sounds a little strange to me though, someone who had a "completely" jewish father (i mean with both grandparents jewish) would be considered a half-jew even though he would probably be "more" of a jew than me (with my grandfather and father christian) - i mean, look at me, i wasn't even sure if i am completely jewish
i think i'll really need to change my attitude

Well you know now. :p: Yeah well if you have any questions or anything then feel free to ask. Where abouts do you live? Have you ever visited a synagogue or any Jewish youth groups, etc?

Fishness! Welcome to the realms of J-Soc once again.

Indeed you have. It was actually really nice. Cultured, yet sophisticated. Holy, yet welcoming. Artistic, yet musical. I could go on. :p:
