Re: Magdalen College Thread
Bit of a favour to ask - is anyone here from Magdalen, or knows someone at Magdalen, who would be able to get me a ticket for the Commem Ball? Would really love to go, it would be an amazing way to end my Oxford experience, but struggling to get a ticket at the moment.
PM me/reply on here if so, I'd really appreciate it! -
Re: The Magdalen College ThreadMagdalen is the BEST for that. At least, that is what I am told.(Original post by SANS12795)
Hey all, applicant for 2013 entry here. I've absolutely fallen in love with Magdalen, it's absolutely breathtaking in pictures, so I can only imagine how much more amazing it is in real life. I want to apply for Law. I assume Magdalen is good for that? -
Re: The Magdalen College ThreadYep, Magdalen is pretty **** hot for law. My friends seem to have half their tutes with the people who wrote the essential textbook on the subject. You get sponsored by Freshfields who buy you things and take you out for nice dinners. Lawyers are certainly the most pampered subject group at Magdalen.(Original post by SANS12795)

Re: The Magdalen College ThreadI wouldn't be able to comment specifically on whether it's a good or bad college for taking international students. They have a bunch, it's not a majority. However, I don't think any college really has a bias towards it. The tutors make the decision and the tutors take the people they want to teach which is kind of independent of your nationality.(Original post by SANS12795)
and do they have a reputation for taking international applicants? or is it more difficult for internationals to get an offer from Magdalen?
If it helps, I know there are several international students studying law at Magdalen. -
The Magdalen College ThreadHey, I'm a 2013 Magdalen applicant too! Where are you from?(Original post by lucyandalice)
Hi everyone, 2013 applicant here - also international! I've pretty much decided on Magdalen, but my only worry is that it will be kind of stuffy and posh. My other question is if it's good for English Lit?

The Magdalen College ThreadItaly, so I'm not technically international, but I'm not UK either. What are you applying for???(Original post by lucyandalice)

The Magdalen College ThreadOh that's cool! I already live in Oxford, are you flying in from NZ?!(Original post by lucyandalice)
Italy is international! It's just...EU international. I'm applying for English Lit. Are you coming from Italy to Oxford for your interview?

The Magdalen College ThreadOh that's cool, you enjoying Europe? where have you been? Yep i'm finishing school off here(Original post by lucyandalice)
No I'm doing a gap year in Europe, so I've organised my travels to be in England at the time. Do you go to school there or something?
did you take a-levels?

Re: The Magdalen College Thread
Hi everyone--
I'm an applicant for 2013 and remember reading somewhere that 'decisions will be sent by post only' (not email). I know that most colleges send letters on Jan. 10 and emails on Jan. 11, but I'm wondering if Magdalen only sends letters. I live in the Netherlands at the moment, so it could take a few days for a letter to arrive...
Anyone know? -
Re: The Magdalen College ThreadIf you email the college on 11th January, you should be able to get a digital copy of your decision letter emailed to you.(Original post by Iris8)
